Congratulations to Nnaemeka for earning an honorable mention in this year's C-J writing contest. Seventh and eighth graders from all Dayton area Catholic schools can enter the contest in several categories, including poetry. Nnameka wrote a non-fiction essay about his father and his family's heritage from Nigeria.  This is a huge honor as more than 200 entries from 9 different schools are entered into the contest.  Congratulations Nnaemeka!

We are so lucky to have my dad, Vince, helping out once a week in my classroom!

The eighth grade class from Precious Blood School concluded a unit on “Peacemaking” with a trip to the Dayton International Peace Museum.
After researching, presenting, and learning about peacemakers, some well-known, others not, students took a field trip to Downtown Dayton to visit the Museum.

Jim Hagan, strong supporter and volunteer at the Museum, lead the students through the three floors of the 1877 house and said, “I enjoyed the Precious Blood students and think them to be the most enthusiastic of any I have had the privilege of working with.”  Mrs Weizman agrees.  “The students have worked so hard to learn about certain peacemakers and were really ready for whatever the Museum offered.”  Students especially took lessons from the Golden Rule Room, the Nuclear War Exhibit, and the Peace Corner.

Mrs. Weizman said, “What a treasure this Museum is for Dayton.
Families and students everywhere need to visit.”

Special thanks to volunteers Mrs. Hickey, Mrs. Mack, Mrs. Dwire, and Mr. Corrado for helping out with the field trip.
