Children learn by doing!  That is why the Precious Blood Preschool believes in educating children through play and hands-on experiences.   Play is essential to children being able to navigate their world.  Children want to learn when it is presented to them in a fun, exciting way.

  • Socializing and interacting with other children the same age through role play, dramatic play, and puppetry.
  • Practicing self-help skills such as hand washing, taking off and putting on shoes, buttoning, cleaning up after one's self, etc.
  • Creating art with little help from an adult using crayons, markers, glue, scissors, paints, etc.
  • Practicing fine motor skills such as sorting, sewing, cutting, tearing, tracing, counting, matching, etc.
  • Learning how to handle one’s self in different situations.
  • Learning how to deal with emotions and then how to communicate those feelings with other children and adults.
  • Separating from parents with undue stress.
  • Being exposed to letters, numbers, shapes, and colors.
  • Retaining information by repetition while clapping hands, stomping feet, etc.
  • Practicing large motor skills such as hopping, floor mat activities, use of balls and bean bags.
  • Following simple directions

Children need to learn these basic skills in order to make
moving into the next level of learning a smooth transition.
