Just a few procedures:

***Monday folders ( a manila file folder) will come every Monday or on the 1st day of the week. This folder will contain your child’s Weekly Progress Report, Graded papers and other important papers. Please sign and date the Progress Report and send it back to school with the empty folder the next day. There is a space provided for comments. After three checks I will call and after three calls we will schedule a conference.

***A Weekly News and Calendar will be sent home every Monday in the “Monday folder” that lists any tests or special projects for the upcoming week, as well as any reminders and/or announcements

*Room 4        PE / Gym   is on Thursdays and Fridays
                     Reminder your child must wear gym uniforms.
                     Music is on Thursdays and Fridays
                     Art is on Fridays
                     Library is on Wednesday
                     Remember their books so they can check out a book
                     All fines must be paid to check out another book (5 cent late fees)
                     Computer is on Mondays

***Breakfast*** your child has a chance to have a healthy breakfast every morning. I will take a count of who wants breakfast on the last day of the week before ONLY. If your child says they want it they will be charged for it whether you wanted them to have it or not. So please make sure they understand.

Breakfast for all Grades is $1.35. Reduced Breakfast $.30

Lunch costs will remain the same this year. Grades K-6 is $2.40, 7-8th is $2.50. Adult lunch is $2.75. Reduced Lunches $.40

*Please send all communications and lunch money in an envelope with the child’s name and their number. (Help me out and do this so I do not have to do before I send them to the office, Thanks)

*Youngest or Only child will bring home a large brown envelope that must come back each month. When they are returned we know you have received it and read it.

***Supplies*** Please send in all the supplies before Friday, Sept. 4. I’m sorry but I have a few more things to get 2 large or 6 small glue sticks, and a box of 20 Yellow pencils. We will have a class basket of sharpened pencils so they will not have to sharpen during the day. Thanks if you are unable to add the extra items please let me know with a note I’ll understand.

***Rewards*** I use many methods to help these little ones make great choices. I use raffle tickets for a daily drawing. We also can earn class stars; once we earn 10 we get a class privilege, music hour, movie or extra recess. When they forget behavior rules, they get warnings: 1st green, 2nd yellow, and finally a red warning. I will write red warnings on the Weekly Progress Report.

***Homework*** is a high priority. Homework comes in a large zip lock bag. They are to read the book, and do the worksheets. Also they need to practice spelling words, writing words and math flash card EVERY NIGHT. If they forget any homework they will do it during morning recess. Even homework done and left at home will be done again and they will miss recess. Homework is NOT to be done alone. Please grade and have them fix all their homework. Also have them redo any homework that is sloppy. These habits in grade will create great scholars.

***Making the Right Choices*** Please go over the class rules with your child. If they understand what is expected of them in 2nd grade it will make them more successful. If your child comes home with a note saying they had a red ticket and missed recess, please talk about how to change their behavior.

***Spelling Test*** I give out a list of the weeks words on the Weekly News and Calendar given out in the Monday folder. We will have a Pretest on Wednesdays and a Final test on Fridays. If they pass the Wed. test WITH 12 OUT OF 12, they do not have to take the Friday test. I call it Free Friday.

*Scholastic Book Order will go home on the first Monday of the month and order can be done on –line or with a check sent in. See the flyer on-line to order. If ordering through me and not on line please send in orders by the Wednesday order date. Make all checks to Scholastic, NO CASH.
